Vatandosh Connect is proud to announce a new humanitarian partnership with the animal protection center Terra Vita, an organization dedicated to rescuing and caring for homeless animals in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

This collaboration marks the beginning of a long-term initiative to support responsible animal welfare and community engagement in Uzbekistan, while inviting compassionate supporters around the world to participate through volunteering, advocacy, and charitable donations.

A Safe Haven for Vulnerable Animals

Terra Vita operates a temporary shelter for homeless animals in the Samarkand region, where dogs and cats that have been abandoned or rescued from difficult conditions receive care, food, medical attention, and the chance to find a permanent home.

The shelter was founded through grassroots volunteer efforts after a group of concerned citizens began helping animals discovered in poor conditions at a municipal capture service. Over time, volunteers united to create a dedicated shelter space where rescued animals could receive proper care and rehabilitation.

Today the shelter houses over one hundred animals, including dogs and cats that are vaccinated and prepared for adoption into responsible families.

The organization operates primarily through the efforts of volunteers and the support of compassionate individuals who believe that every animal deserves care, dignity, and a chance at a better life.

Why This Partnership Matters

Animal welfare remains an emerging field in Central Asia. Local shelters often operate with limited resources while facing growing numbers of abandoned animals in rapidly expanding urban areas.

Through this partnership, Vatandosh Connect aims to:

  • Support the development of humane animal care initiatives in Samarkand

  • Connect international donors with grassroots organizations working on the ground

  • Promote responsible adoption and sterilization programs

  • Help improve veterinary care and shelter conditions

  • Raise global awareness about animal welfare challenges in Uzbekistan

This initiative reflects Vatandosh Connect’s broader mission to connect the Uzbek diaspora and global partners with meaningful social impact projects in Uzbekistan.

A Community Effort

The Terra Vita shelter itself is a powerful example of community compassion. The center was created by volunteers and continues to operate through donations, volunteer work, and the support of people who care deeply about protecting vulnerable animals.

At the shelter, animals receive food, medical care, and attention while volunteers work tirelessly to help them find loving homes.

How You Can Help

Vatandosh Connect is currently working with Terra Vita to expand international awareness and support for their work. Donations from supporters in the United States and Europe will help provide:

  • Food and veterinary care for rescued animals

  • Shelter maintenance and expansion

  • Sterilization and vaccination programs

  • Adoption and community education initiatives

Even small contributions can make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals who have been abandoned or mistreated.

Looking Ahead

This partnership represents the beginning of a broader effort to strengthen animal welfare initiatives in Uzbekistan and to encourage a culture of compassion and responsibility toward animals.

By working together across borders, Vatandosh Connect and Terra Vita hope to create sustainable solutions that improve both animal welfare and community awareness in Samarkand.

Those interested in supporting this initiative can learn more about the shelter and its work through the Terra Vita website or by following updates through Vatandosh Connect’s programs.

Together, we can help ensure that every animal has the chance to live in safety, dignity, and care.
